A story that learns you

Most stories are finished before you arrive. This one waits.

Between chapters, the story asks — a few quiet questions about the house you live in, the people you keep close, the routines nobody else would notice. What you choose to share, it weaves in. What you keep back, it writes around. Chapter by chapter it fits you more closely, and what one story learns, the next remembers: finish an arc and something of it survives into the one after.

You hold the pen

Everything the story knows about you lives on a single page, in plain words. Correct a detail and the story quietly adjusts. Withdraw one and it leaves the story's memory entirely. Export everything, or erase everything, whenever you like. Personal means yours.

The stories

Three arcs are open. Every telling is different — the seal is the only thing two readers' copies share.

Cover of The Tenant

The Tenant

horror · supernatural

Something that knows where the reader lives has begun leaving evidence it was there first — and it would like to discuss the terms of their arrangement.

Cover of The Understudy

The Understudy

horror · grounded

Someone has been living the reader's life one day ahead of them — slightly better, slightly kinder, slightly more loved — and the evidence is beginning to arrive before the reader does.

Cover of The Archive

The Archive

horror · sci-fi

A data-recovery firm has found a complete, indexed archive of the reader dated three years from now — and where the file and their life disagree, the file is quietly being proven right.

How it works

  1. Tell it what it may use. Pick an intensity — Campfire, Under the Skin, or Too Close — and name anything the story must never touch.
  2. A chapter, about every week. Composed fresh, for you alone, at the depth you chose.
  3. It asks; you answer; it listens. A few questions between chapters, and each answer sharpens the next.
  4. Sometimes, a letter. Opt in, and the story's antagonist may write to you between chapters. One click quiets them.

Remember choose-your-own-adventure? This is what it grew up into — a story with one path, written for one reader: you. You don't pick what happens next; the story listens to who you are. It doesn't forget you when you close the book; it remembers, across whole arcs. And no branching book ever wrote you a letter.

The honest part

  • Dear Reader is fiction, and it always says so — every page carries a reality anchor, and every letter is signed as fiction.
  • Every word is written by software: an AI writing engine working from details you chose to share. There is no human ghostwriter, and you deserve to know that plainly.
  • Lights On stops everything, instantly. One tap drops the story to its gentlest register and pauses the letters.
  • Your data is yours. Export everything, correct anything, or delete it all — permanently.
  • For adults (18+) only.
